The Old School Radio Hour
HISTORY OF OUR SHOW
It may be kind of surprising to be having a page on this. Almost
everything has info on their history so why not ours?

Everything that has existed all throughout time has a beginning and
The Old School Radio Hour is NO exception!

It's humble beginnings go back to the summer of 1995. TG (living in
Norristown,Pennsylvania at the time) was just getting ready for his
freshman year of high school. He had such a love for hip hop's
beginnings and the music that accompanied the culture at its time.
As a fan of radio shows,he felt that there should be a show in the
format of a Top 20 countdown program. There were several old
school lunch hour programs that were broadcasted throughout the
week but no show that would talk about the singles, its artists,or
anything related.

Playing on a small boombox with a condensed microphone built in,he
went to work on his new experiment, his own radio show from
home(not an actual "radio" show but recorded in that format). At the
time, it was The Sugar Hill Superstars Radio Show, playing nothing
but......singles from the legendary label, Sugar Hill Records. Using the
boombox for intros and voiceovers then stopping the tapes and
tranferring them to a home audio system with a dual cassette
recorder for recording the music from the tapes then back again on
the boombox, these tapes were very influential during TG's early
experience. Even though the quality of these tapes were poor when it
came to the talking, his friends were still amazed.

Only 2 shows were recorded and they were filled with classic
singles, cool facts, history and impersonations of a few legends like
Grandmaster Flash.

Not bad for an initial effort but TG decided instead of having only
singles from one classic label, include singles from all of the
legendary labels and artists who recorded for them. He took the 2
Sugar Hill tapes,erased them(he didn't like them),and started anew.
August 7, 1995, the world's very first Old School Radio Hour
recording was born, starting with 1984's "Here Comes That Beat" by
the late Pumpkin and The Profile All-Stars. He would then add and
record his own commercials to the tapes(most of them were
extremely hilarious),provide the same info from the previous
effort, record mock interviews with legends(TG impersonating them
very well),mock New Year's Eve live shows(audience sounds coming
from records which were looped) and even inviting his high school
buddies as guests. Many were amazed on how a 14 year old kid
would know so much information.
Only 65 shows were recorded from 1995 to 1999 and the tapes still
exist in TG's collection (except for one that was stolen back in 1997
and one that was chewed up by a cheaply made cassette player).

After a 6 year absence,TG decides to bring his show back again to
the masses for the first time. Radio Volta,an radical internet radio
station, decides to take him in as a programmer and on December
14, 2005, The Old School Radio Hour premieres to the world. This
time,he decided to have REAL guest interviews with REAL legends,
and he pretty much brought everything from his teenaged years to
this version (except for the fake commercials).

The show is now on G-Town Radio.com and as TG preps up for his
upcoming show,he develops new plans and new ideas for a show
that began life as an afterschool/weekend hobby, djing from his
bedroom and is still on that road to becoming a huge success.
